Re: Charnel Touch.  The way it reads, you're probably out of luck using it on yourself.

"At will, but no more than once per round, she can make a melee touch attack against a living foe that deals 1d8 points of damage, +1 per four class levels"

1) It states you have to make a melee attack - which probably won't work against yourself.
2) It also says foe, which probably excludes yourself
3) It says living foe. Not sure when the DN becomes fully undead. It looks like the DN gets the full template at L20, but picks up Lich body DR perks along the way.

Do the Neg Energy Burst spell-like abilities give you anything? They might once you reach L20, when you get the Lich template. Pretty sure the template gives the undead type, so you should get the benefit then.
Base Classes / Dread Necromancer Inconsistencies

Greetings! I've been a longtime fan of NWN in general, and several years ago I stumbled upon the PRC and just... fell in love all over again. I finally got around to making a forum account and joining the discord, and during a playthrough of a Dread Necro I noticed some things that don't quite jive with the way they're particularly intended from my understanding.

First one is a bit odd, but might just be a programming limitation given how things work (unsure on that obviously). Essentially, if you use charnel touch to heal yourself when you have Tomb-Tainted Soul it treats you as undead and only heals the 1 hp + 1 per 4 levels rather than the damage component of charnel touch. Most of my experience here is based on the PnP version of 3.5 and whatnot, so I could be wrong and have always thought about this incorrectly, but to my knowledge Tomb-tainted Soul just switches positive and negative energy for damage and healing respectively, I don't believe it's supposed to make you count as undead for any reason.

Second fairly major thing I noticed is again to do with charnel touch actually. In PnP it's a supernatural ability, not a spell-like ability, but the game treats it like one. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do to make that not happen, but essentially it's not *supposed* to cause Attacks of Opportunity, or proc concentration checks when you use it.

I tried a casual google search before posting and didn't really turn up anything, so if these things have been brought up before I apologize for rehashing, I just noticed some things that were off from what I understood their intended functionality in terms of how the PnP works so I thought I'd just mention it.

You are correct.

One is a true class, where you have to allocate levels. The other is a template, which effectively gives you 10 more levels to place as you wish - usually on caster levels. The Lich class has a much stronger DR, but at the expense of 10 (caster) levels. The class gives a phylactery that you can upgrade and the ability to create Soul gems through the Craft Lich items feat.

The template also gives you extra's like a very high DC Weird, Harm and various Monster Summoning at will via the radials. As far as I know, the lich touch and disguise are the same. I don't think the template uses a phylactery (hence the absence of Craft Lich items feat) and the ability bonuses don't stack with items, so if you want them to stack you'll have to increase them manually. I think once your caster level gets high enough a new template will appear (the dreaded): Demilich.

If you really want (????) a phylactery, max out the class & phylactery upgrades - write down the stats, and you can toolset them later for the template version along with the Soul Gems. The Soul gems are great at wasting the uber-class (monk) as it bypasses their generally irreducible SR.

It is more handy to have the powers on the radial, [you equip something else in that slot], the Weird DC is pretty high to boot, and who doesn't love Harm & Monster Summon IX at will?

The Soul gems can be generated using the toolset with the instructions at the very bottom of this post:

Spawn as many as you need. Using them changes your alignment, so if you want to stay neutral to avoid smites, you'll need the NAM (NWN Alignment Manager).

Unless you are making a god-mode tank, the template is the better choice.

Would be cool for you to post your build here:
Prestige Classes / New Lich Help

Before I go into this, let me say i have already done a fair amount of searching and reading on the Lich class and template (which includes the old "Lich Help" post from back in 2011).

Here is the deal.  i am trying to figure out the explicit details on becoming a lich.  Based on what I have read, there are two possible methods.  The obvious is to take "Lich" as a prestige class.  The obvious downside to this is it eats up character levels that could be used in something else.  The second, and apparently preferred method is to use the "Lich Template"...which (in theory but not in practice) does not require taking any levels in the Lich class...according to what I have read on the forum.  Maybe it is addressed in some newer post that I haven't made it to yet, but this appears to be the case.

What I have done to test this is create a LE human wizard with the "craft wondrous items" feat and 21st level.    The option appeared to accept the lich template (as expected).  The problem is, the "Craft Lich Item" feat is not granted unless I take a level in the "Lich Class".  This instantly destroys the benefit of the "Lich Template" because I am forced to take a level in the class.

So, my (obvious by now) question is, "Is this correct?  Is the template now pointless?  Or, is this a bug and the 'craft lich item' feat is supposed to be given when a character gains the template?"
Spells, Feats, and Skills / Re: Swordsage Leveling issue with feats
« Latest: by Kryoflamme on December 26, 2018, 08:02:05 PM »
Just a quick question: the manual says the swordsage gets evasion and improved evasion. When I tried leveling one he didn't get any of those.

I'm not sure if I made a mistake when creating the char on an old 3.5 module - but setting him to lvl 2 and starting on a 3.6 module I could verify the 'problem' - no evasion. Or is the manual wrong here?
Help / Hi, just a tip about some classes refused at login
« Latest: by Arbaal on December 24, 2018, 01:36:11 PM »
Hi, i use prc from years.
Now i'm having this problem:
- swashbuckler, ultimate ranger and antipaladin cannot log in

nwn 1.69
prc 3.2
all installed and working (i can use other classes and feats and spells of prc)
hosted online
nwnx, nwnx patch, nwncx, nwnxfixes and other nwnx plugin
error: character login refused (i'm italian, so i'm translating the messagge that could sound a bit different in english)
the button "play" cannot be pressed or selected, nor is "highlightable".
I can create an ultimate ranger, but i cannot press "play" after the creation and if i press "play" right after the creation when is still possible the login is refused.

I use also some prc switches, i'm wandering why only these classes have these problems on log in
Help / Can't install because I don't have HOTU and SOU, but I do?
« Latest: by Hawkmoth on December 20, 2018, 01:22:12 AM »
I tried to install the PRC 3.5 self installer, but after I downloaded it and clicked to install, a pop up showed, explaining why I can't.  It says I don't have Hordes of the Underdark or Shadows of Undrentide installed, but I have both of those.  Additionally, it says if I do have those, to reinstall using Bioware's settings?  I don't know what that means.  I've included the pop up in an attachment.

Also, I have two versions of the game.  The CD physical copy, and my Gamers Gate copy.  Idk which one it is I'm relying on here.

If you know how to help me, please explain how as if I were a 5 year old.  I'm not the best at computer stuff.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to give standard spellbooks to classes. Maybe the EE will change that eventually.

I figured that would be the case. Oh well, still enjoyed the new classes with the custom spellbooks.
