Other Games / Re: City of Heroes

In case nobody's heard, this game is shutting down. The jerks at NCSoft decided that since it didn't sell well in Korea, despite the fact that it sold well everywhere else, it had to be shut down.

Heard about it, but I'm not a fan of MMOs.

Spells, Feats, and Skills / Re: Call Mount Feat?

Is it possible to mount something other than horses?

The CEP has a ton of mounts.

1. Aside from the nwnxfuncs plugin,  what other nwnx plugins do I need from the nwnx website? Do I need the odbc, hashsets etc? or is it ok if I only have the core nwnx installed?
3. Do I need to to use the PRC serverpack? or is the prcpack enough?

Just use the PRC server pack.  Dont' worry about additional dlls from

4. Is PRC_LETOSCRIPT_FIX_ABILITIES the only switch I need for the permanent stat boost?
Pretty sure that is correct.  You will want to set other switches for other things though.

2. everytime I try to load the OC module from the nwserver started by nwnx, the nwserver crashes, I'm I missing something? Also i'm using the nwnx_funcs_0941

Can you post your logs?

1. do you need to run the nwnx2.exe while playing in the OC for it to NWNX2 to work?

Yes, but you also need to be running the OC modules in the NWServer application.  I may be wrong, but I don't think NWNx2 hooks into the graphical client.

2. where are you supposed to put the nwnx_funcs.nss? I just added it to the prc_include.hak using nwhak and then updated the vanilla campaigns with the PRCmoduleupdater since it says in the readme of nwnxfuncs to add it to your module.

Put it in your topmost hak, not the includes hak.

any idea what the problem is?

After you do the above two things, you'll want to add the following switch to the module properties.

Alternate Magic Systems / Re: Ego Whip: Is it worth it?
« on: October 23, 2012, 10:03:34 PM »
Ok, as a 4th level Psion, I choose Ego Whip as a power. In PnP it is one of my favourite powers. Shortly thereafter, I discover that Neverwinter Nights doesn't allow ability damage to sink the stats below 3. I still don't know how to augment my powers, but I had the dream of making the Blackguard elf catatonic but alive and now it is gone. OK. I still thought that I would find lots of uses for it as I did in PnP.

I couldn't.

Escaped Sorcerers don't lose spells. Nor the fireballs are any easier to save. The Intellect Devourer laughs at my pathetic attempts at making its spell like abilities any easier to resist.

Should I reload an older savegame to choose my powers wisely?

Try setting the switch PRC_PNP_ABILITY_DAMAGE_EFFECTS to 1.

Help / Re: Please Help With Shadows over Heliopolis

I think you're almost there. Try this:
1. Start Toolset and open original SoH module (without PRC)
2. Go to Edit -> Module Properties
3. On Custom Content tab find Custom tlk file - remove anything that is in that field and press OK
4. Save the module and exit Toolset
5. Run PRC Module Updater.

Let me know if you had any further problems ;)

Also, If you are running Vista or Windows 7, reinstall NWN to a different directory.  If you don't the ACL will give you problems.

For Brain Nausea, are there any creatures that actually try to eat brains in NWN? I don't recall even Illithids trying that in NWN, but its been a while since I encountered them in play.

Yeah they do if you are using their custom Bioware AI.  The PRC's illithid race has an Extract Brin ability as well.

or if I learned enough to build it for the PRC, then would it be an acceptable prestige class to add in to the PRC?

I don't think it's being worked on, pretty sure room could be made for a new, well made canon PrC.

General Discussion / Re: Swiftblade- A Possibility?
« on: October 03, 2012, 08:14:13 PM »
What are the possibilities of seeing a conversion of the swiftblade class found here on the WoTC site? I can see how a number of the abilities might be difficult to fit into NWN.

Fixed link.  Also, that special requirement is silly & probably impossible to track in NWN.

Help / Re: How to play personal_switch 2da in multiplayer lan?

How can use the settings that use in personal_switch 2da to be played in multiplayer? I cant get it to work on other characters. Please help and thanks in advance.

You have to set them in the module's variables using the Toolset.

General Discussion / Re: About nwn performance and cc 1.8.
« on: September 13, 2012, 07:48:19 PM »
Hey, is there a way to increase performance for prc/nwn in a pc with 6 cores, tons of ram and a great graphic card (win 7 homeE updated)? because its slow to load and stuff... the same speed it was in my p4 3.0 with 1 giga ram and fx 5200. Also some crashes after loading 2 or 3 modules.

Also, anyone knows some site with a really large amount of pictures to put in the cc portraits folder?
or anyone has a good one already that can upload here?
Maybe a thread that i dont know?

NWN isn't multi-threaded so all those cores do nothing for you.

This BWS post may help you some.

Builders / Re: Upgrade a module with PRC 3.3g to PRC 3.5

My group has been running this module with PRC and no NWNx2 as a private server on and off for the past 6 years or so. Seems to work fine (except for this pesky Scout situation).

Are you running the module in the graphical client or the stand alone server?

If you would be so kind as to jog my memory of what I actually need to do to upgrade the "top merge hak", I'd be most appreciative - and maybe we can solve this pesky Scout situation.

Here is how I do it.

1.) Make a backup of your original 3.3 top hak.

2.) Make a folder & extract your 3.3 top hak into it, using NWHak.

3.) Make another folder & extract the PRC 3.5 2da files into it.

4.) Make a 3rd folder that will contain the merged 2da files.

5.) Figure out which files are in both folders, these will be the ones that need merging.

6.) Using Excimer's 2DA Combinulator, open each paired 2da file, merge them & write a new 2DA file to the 3rd folder.  I use the beta version.

7.) When you are done, put the contents of the 3rd folder into your top hak, overwriting any old files.

8.) I usually recompile my module at this point, but I'm not sure if it's 100% necessary.

Hope that helps!

There is no ODBC log - ODBC is not being used - it is just the default dbf files being used.

Can we go back to the beginning for a moment? Is the method that I used to upgrade the module from PRC 3.3g to PRC 3.5 the correct way to do it?

To recap, I have a module that was setup and working with CEP1 and PRC 3.3g with just the default Bioware database being used and no NWNx2 being used.

I then upgraded my installation to use PRC 3.5 files (including prcc1.hak). I opened the module in the toolset and Saved As a different name. I then ran the PRC compiler and all files rebuilt without any errors. I then saved the module and started running it as a standalone server.

Is that the correct method to upgrade from PRC 3.3g to PRC 3.5?

Looks right.  Did you remerge the 2da files in your top hak, if any?
