Help / Character creator issues
« on: August 11, 2009, 09:51:15 PM »
I'm not sure, but I seem to remember a thread on one of the old boards that suggested that, depending on which version of the game you installed origianlly, you might get the standard portraits without the software having actually created the separate folder that the cc looks for.  Check your NWN folder to make sure that there actually is a portrait folder in it.

If you find that one is not there, simply create it.  Then download the standard portrait pack from the vault and install the portraits to the folder you created.  That will give the CC access.

This may not be your problem, but I know the problem exists sometimes, so it is worth checking.

Help / Weapon Proficiency Not Recognized In OC
« on: August 08, 2009, 02:48:27 PM »
I'm not the best person to answer this, since I haven't played the OC with the PRC installed, but I seem to recall from the old forum that in order to play the OC correctly with the PRC, you needed to run the oc fix.  I don't know how to do this--perhaps some other kind soul will condtribute.  I do notice that in my hak folder, I have a file called prc_ocfix.hif.

There is a very confusing discussion on one of the bioware forums that looks as if you can run ocfix using the module installer.  http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=619606&forum=66

Prestige Classes / Lich help?
« on: July 22, 2009, 10:15:40 PM »
It has been awhile since I played a lich, but I believe you have to select the lich crafting, then click on the ground.  An altar will appear after the visual effects subside.  This altar will give you the option to create soul gems when you click on it, assuming that you are to a level when you can use them.

Okay.  I should have known I was just misunderstanding you.

I appreciate the effort--which, in any case, is far more than I'm capable of doing.

I think that at least some of the special songs were already coded.  On the old forum there was clear evidence that some of them were working.  Unfortunately, the spell progression wasn't working.

With regard to Strat's comment about the class, I checked http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/prc&tablesort=1, and the class is definitely listed as a real class.  The source book is given as CAr, but I'm not sure what the abbreviation means, but it is the same source as Suel arcanamach and Acolyte of the skin, both already part of the PRC.

Sublime chord?  I'm pretty sure I have seen online references to it outside the contextx of the PRC.  I'll check later as opportunity permits.

Other Features / PRC Templates
« on: July 16, 2009, 05:09:38 PM »
I know you guys were working on some undead templates, but in 3.3G rc the undead ones don't show up at all anymore.  If they are supposed to be there, perhaps there is a problem in the rc that is preventing them from showing up as choices.  I tested with good, evil, and neutral characters (just in case alignment was a factor), and they didn't show up.

Clamor!  Clamor!

Seriously, I think there my not have been much uproar over it before because a lot of people who play NWN aren't that familiar with the PNP game and therefore don't necessarily know that such classes exist in PNP.  To me a cleric-bard combination seems like a good addition to the PRC system.  Certainly it doesn't duplicate anything that is currently out there.

XWarren, I notice that you are digging around looking for interesting classes that got started and not quite finished.  Would you be interested in finishing Sublime Chord?  I  know it was in the last PRC release, but some features didn't work, and it has disappeared from this one.

Bards have a fair number of prestige class options, but what makes sublime chord potentially different is that it allows a bardic character to progress to 9th level spells, thereby becoming eligible to cast epic spells.  The other bardic prestige classes are pretty much music only, but sublime chord does both.  I would do it myself if I had any aptitude for this kind of thing at all.

Anyway, have a look if you get the chance and see if enough is done to interest you.

Other Features / PRC Templates

Oops!  I misread your earlier post.  It is half-celestial and half-fiendish that work.  Last I heard, werewolf was not working, unless there is more current information up that suggests otherwise.  It wasn't working at the time the old website went down.

Yeah, those two templates work for sure.  I think I read right before the old website went down that some of the undead templates were working for this release, but I have never had occasion to try them.

In theory they could all be made operational if anyone who had the time and skill would do it.  Sadly, I lack the skill to do ti.

Base Classes / Dread Necromancer

I fixed the DNecro spell isue. Comes of having a rather arcane a long script net to do spellbooks.

Elsewhere in the forums, I made the assumption that you were talking about 3.3g final, not the release candidate, even though the rc is dated after the posts indicating the fix.  3.3g rc still has the dread necro issues.  I haven't checked the other spellbook classes, but I would assume the problem is probably still there.  So is the summoning spell problem Susaphone clalled attention to her in her first post.

So, just to be clear, the spellbook issue is fixed and will work correctly when 3.3g final comes out?  Or is it still a work in progress?

Help / crafting, lich phylactery, circle magic
« on: June 23, 2009, 06:23:58 PM »

Hi all.

How do i craft constructs using craft constructs feat? (didnt manage to craft one)
How do i create the lich phylactery on the first level of lich class?
How does circle magic works? can i activate one playing solo?
How can i gain access to the PRC epic wizard labaratory?

Please help 8I

I don't know about the first question.  The last time I heard, the craft construct feat, though it appears in the feat list, had not really been finished.  Flaming Sword would know what the status is.
It has been a while since i played a lich, though if memory serves you click on "craft lich items" in the convo, then click anywhere on the ground.  An altar will appear at which you can do your crafting.  Same for upgrades and soul gems later on.
I don't know about the third question.
The epic spells lab was deleted a few versions ago.  Now you just use one of the items in the menu, I think "manage epic spells" to add spells.  To learn the spell seeds and the spells themselves, click on "PRC" and then on the purchase option.  One of the sub-choices is epic spells.

General Discussion / PRC Compatible Modules

well i have just about every version of the cep in my hak folder. what i did was changed all the haks to current versions and i tend to use it as a single player mod, i would have interest in helping get it up for a pw. i have some building skills and some minor scripting skills. any way i can help i will.:)

the mod is a very large mod and would need trimmed IMO to run as a good server. it takes a very long time to load. their is an older version that tends to run better but it is a bit smaller than the best version IMO.

Yeah, I love PRC World Extreme, though I usually ran it just on my machine as a single player experience--my schedule makes it tricky to really get into online gaming.  Nonetheless, it would be a great service if someone could create a version that could run as a PW.

Trimming might be facilitated by the fact that the original author borrowed material from all over the place, some of which don't work in their current setting and thus could be easily deleted.  Examples:  Port Stargazer has two characters that are supposed to give quests but don't.  A prisoner rescued in the abbey alludes to one of the Stargazers but then rescuing him doesn't trigger an acknowledgement that the quest is completed.  Similarly, parts of Aldania (I think that's the name) are in there, but with insufficient information.  There is a central quest that is not completable.)  Taking out all the bits and pieces that don't have the scripts to run might make the module more manageable.  Sadly, someone would also have to make sure the removed pieces didn't create continuity problems.  I think, for example, that as currently set up, Port Stargazer functions as the entrance to the city of Rykaria, so someone would have to supply other links.  I lack the skill for such an undertaking.

Character Builds / Building a Sorcerer Lich - Build Help Wanted
« on: June 17, 2009, 11:39:37 PM »
With regard to Endless Nights Vi--and I think the same is true of IV as well--the weird character behavior you describe can be circumvented by saving the character through another module, then using the saved character for Endless Nights.  I don't know what the original problem is,  but this workaround cures it.  (This is a tip I got from someone on the old boards.)

Endless Nights IV is good for building chracters like demiliches because you really can get to 40 levels if you want.
